Offshore Classification Services
Service Supplier Approval
Firms providing services on behalf of shipowners and Mobile Offshore Drilling Units, such as measurements, testing, or maintenance of safety systems and equipment, the results of which are used by TASNEEF Maritime surveyors in making decisions affecting classification and statutory certification, are approved by TASNEEF Maritime in accordance with the Rules for the Approval of Service Suppliers.
At present, TASNEEF Maritime conducts the following types of inspections and approvals for service providers:
Firms Engaged in Thickness Measurements of Hull Structures
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to firms engaged, through their own qualified operators, in ultrasonic (US) thickness measurements of ship structural materials, including those with the ESP (Enhanced Survey Programme) notation.
Firms Engaged in Tightness Testing of Closing Appliances such as Hatches, Doors, etc. Using Ultrasonic Equipment
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to firms engaged, through their own qualified operators, in the tightness testing of closing appliances such as hatches, doors, etc. using ultrasonic equipment.
Firms Carrying Out In-Water Surveys of Ships and Mobile Offshore Units
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to firms engaged in the inspection of the submerged parts of ship hulls and mobile offshore units by divers or Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), in connection with in-water surveys required under the Rules for the Classification of Ships.
Firms Engaged in Surveys and Maintenance of Fire Extinguishing Equipment and Systems
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to suppliers engaged in the survey and maintenance of fire extinguishing equipment and systems, such as fixed fire extinguishing systems, portable fire extinguishers, and fire detection and alarm systems.
Firms Engaged in Servicing Inflatable Liferafts, Inflatable Lifejackets, Hydrostatic Release Units, Inflatable Rescue Boats, and Marine Evacuation Systems
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to suppliers engaged in the following services:
Servicing of inflatable liferafts, inflatable lifejackets, hydrostatic release units, and/or inflatable rescue boats
Servicing of marine evacuation systems
Firms Engaged in Surveys and Testing of Radio Communication Equipment
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to suppliers engaged in the following services:
Surveys, inspections, testing, and/or measurement of radio equipment aboard ships or mobile offshore units for compliance with SOLAS regulations
Annual testing of 406 MHz satellite EPIRBs for compliance with SOLAS Regulation IV/15.9
Inspection, performance testing, and maintenance of Automatic Identification Systems (AIS). The service supplier shall be familiar with the equipment involved, including acting as a service agent for the equipment manufacturer where applicable.
Firms Engaged in Surveys and Maintenance of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to suppliers engaged in the survey and maintenance of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and Emergency Escape Breathing Devices (EEBD).
Firms Engaged in the Examination of Ro-Ro Ships' Bow, Stern, Side, and Inner Doors
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to suppliers engaged in the examination of Ro-Ro ships' bow, stern, side, and inner doors.
Firms Engaged in Annual Performance Testing of Voyage Data Recorders (VDR) and Simplified Voyage Data Recorders (S-VDR)
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to suppliers engaged in the annual performance testing and servicing of Voyage Data Recorders (VDR) and Simplified Voyage Data Recorders (S-VDR) in accordance with SOLAS Chapter V, Regulation 18.8 and IMO MSC.1/Circular.1222 – Guidelines on Annual Testing of Voyage Data Recorders (VDR) and Simplified Voyage Data Recorders (S-VDR), as applicable.
Firms Engaged in Surveys of Low-Location Lighting Systems Using Photoluminescent Materials and Evacuation Guidance Systems
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to suppliers engaged in luminance measurements of low-location lighting systems using photoluminescent materials.
Firms Engaged in Sound Pressure Level Measurements of Public Address and General Alarm Systems on Board Ships
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to suppliers engaged in sound pressure level measurements of public address and general alarm systems on board ships.
Firms Engaged in Testing of Coating Systems in Accordance with IMO Resolution MSC.215(82) and IMO Resolution MSC.288(87), as Amended
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to suppliers engaged in the testing of coating systems in accordance with IMO Resolution MSC.215(82), as corrected by IMO MSC.1/Circ.1381 and amended by IMO Resolution 341(91), and IACS UI SC223 and/or IMO Resolution MSC.288(87), as corrected by IMO MSC.1/Circ.1381 and amended by IMO Resolution 341(91).
Firms Engaged in the Servicing and Maintenance of Lifeboats, Launching Appliances, On-Load Release Gear, and Davit-Launched Liferaft Automatic Release Hooks
TASNEEF Maritime provides services in compliance with specific requirements for the issuance of Qualification Certificates to suppliers engaged in the servicing and maintenance of lifeboats, launching appliances, on-load release gear, and davit-launched liferaft automatic release hooks.
