Statutory Certification of Ships

TASNEEF is recognised by various flag administrations to act on their behalf and issue the necessary statutory certificates in accordance with international codes and conventions, as well as the national requirements of the flag state, to ensure safety, security, and environmental protection as contained in various IMO instruments. The requirements for stability, lifesaving appliances, pollution prevention, radio communications, signaling and navigation equipment, offshore container services, lifting appliances, and structural fire protection, including ISM, ISPS, and MLC, are covered under statutory codes and conventions.

TASNEEF performs statutory design appraisal, surveys, and certification on behalf of various flag administrations to issue the necessary statutory certificates through its professional design engineers, surveyors, and auditors.

TASNEEF, being the National Classification Society of the UAE, was first accorded authorisation to carry out statutory certification on behalf of the UAE in 2013 and subsequently by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and various flag administrations, including Lebanon, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, and Morocco.

TASNEEF has been participating in IMO assemblies and international forums to convey its views and has established technical committees in the UAE and other countries with its clients (shipyards and shipowners), as well as with the wider maritime community, including insurers, ship brokers, bankers, marine lawyers, and flag administrations, to maintain close communication with flag authorities.

In addition to statutory certification as authorized by various flag administrations, TASNEEF plays a leading role as the sole responsible society for issuing GCC Code and Yacht Code certifications in the UAE.
